Boyd Lyon UCF Fellowship

The University of Central Florida is pleased to announce the Boyd Lyon Memorial Fellowship for a newly entering doctoral student in the Conservation Biology doctoral program, starting Fall 2007. The fellowship will be awarded to a student who is nominated by the College of Sciences and selected by the UCF Graduate Fellowships Committee as meeting qualifications for a university-wide graduate fellowship.

The fellowship will pay a stipend of at least $18,000 per year plus tuition support, a total value of up to $40,000 per year for support of one Conservation Biology doctoral student for two years. Each two years a new student will receive the award. UCF is seeking a highly-qualified individual who is regularly admitted as a degree seeking doctoral student at the time of the award. To qualify for the award, a student should demonstrate a strong commitment to conservation biology, in particular, turtle research, and provide evidence of experience in the field, awards, recognition or honors, and professional contributions and achievements.

Fellowship recipients are required to be enrolled full-time, be in good standing and make satisfactory academic progress as evaluated by their academic advisor, and maintain at least a B average each term of the award.

All interested applicants should direct inquiries to Dr. Graham Worthy, program director in the Department of Biology, at gworthy@mail.ucf.edu or at 407-823-2935.
